English language challenges

Hi partners!
Well... the end is coming and this semester was powerful, without "paros". And I think everything happened very quickly, Do you think so too?

For me this learning tool is fine. Because the words stay at your brain! and they stay for expanding you lenguaje capacity...and thats is good! The true is in a one semester is not enough for to clarify all grammatical and pronunciation mistakes, but of course everything improves. The principal problem for me was the violent changes in the level of the courses, from English two and three everything was fine ... until in the four everything got too complex! 

I really think, that it is not very compatible to study English while to studying something else, because the principal curriculum consumes most of the time and this learning experience weakens :(
I think it's best to have a good English base from school ... it's ideal, but if you could not ... well, do not give up. I would like to learn english practing more from the texts of art, or in something in this area, I don´t know... anyway probably should take a posterioir course of English to can travel to realize other studyes in other countries 

Outside the English class I use my english to sing my favourites songs in this lenguaje! hahaha but, I don´t practice a lot.. I hope someday I can watch a full movie without subtitles hahaha I hope someday I will be able to see a complete movie without subtitles. I believe that all this serves to improve the pronunciation and understanding of English

Changes to my Study Programme

Hello partners!!

well is a little complicate think about wom is the best form to learn about art. In a begin is interesting think if is reallly necesary stay in a university to learn art. Well is true, the art is necesary in a society or in a culture for understand and question diferent things about life, human and reality. 

And in this way that art is taught in iniversities it is good... I mean, you can practise this as a profesional, (in spite of.. you future and the survival in material meaning is not sure) At this point many things in the visual arts career can be improved. In my opinion, the infrastructure it is important too, the library in "Las encinas" doesn´t exist! is a precarious place to stay... It is not a comfortable place and there is never silence! hahaha maybe because it is thought that students of art do not need to read much... I don´t know... I imagine that the logic of the government in Chile, and the "system" in general is dont destine much money to the art area, because the artist don´t think a lot about the how make money! hahah.

About curriculum I think is okey, but the way they evaluate it is rare. I do not know if the notes are the best way, because I believe they serve for more objective subjects in which the more "hard" knowledge is tested.

The best thing is the big and wonderfull space with grass and trees. In that place you can talk and spend time with your partners in a relaxing way.

Winter holidays!!

For the moment I dont imagine the relax time, because there are still many final exams to complete, in a short time, but however.. this time is coming soon, yeeee!

I thought about traveling to north of Chile, in a meditation center for the retreat the people, they want leave the plane of consciencie for a week. In this place the silence is the most interesting characteristic, if you want stay here, you should keep silence all the time! in any moment, every day for ten days.. it looks easy but isn´t. 

The name of this mediation is "Vipassana", and means "seeing things as they are", it is one of the oldest techniques in India. It was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal cure for universal problems, is as an art.. the art of living. I think is a good place for relax completely and for stop think in mundane problems. The best part is that it´s free!, you have go with your fruits and good aptitud!

I think is a travel for the inside of you, alone, in silence, away for the noise, stress, worry of the city...is a very healthy "exercise" for the mind and for you existence in genereal. Later, if you want, you can help to the others to feel the experience, for this reason is free, "in a mutual benefit". You should register first in their web site, and they wait for you. I hope they have capacity still!! 

My favourite Tv Show

well, I love see The simpsons.. always that I can see them. I´m not very good at watching tv because I don´t have many free time, but when this happend, I really enjoyed it. I imagine many of you know what it´s all about..haha its about a "special and normal u.s family", where all are very funny. 

Homero Simpson is an alcoholic and fat man, adicct to tv and beer, he hates his job but loves his wife. March Simpons is the best mother and wife, cooking for everyone and keeping everthing in order, Bart is the devil, the worst kid ever! haha Is the most mischievous child of Springfield primary. Lisa Simpons is very intelligent child, she is vegetarian, ambientalist and animal defender, and the last one is Maggy the baby of the family. Although the smaller is not less quiet and special, is not as innocent as looks haha

My favorite episode?... i dont know... are many! lets see.. it was when Bart played with Milhouse, they find a big bill, and they went for the best malt ever, made by Apu in the history of Kwik-E-Mart, the most expensive drink ever tried... the effect were allucinating as a trip of LSD! haha 

I like to watch the Simpons because it is not necessary to follow an order in the chapters and to laugh at their experiences as a critic of the American society.

Postgraduate Studies

Hi partners!!

I would like to continue my studies in another country. I think the experience of studiyng away from my house is very difficult but interesting. I mean away from my friends, mom and family wooow, the experience changes. Alone in other space with a diferent form to understand the life and the present, in other culture... learn about this diferences ways I think it is the most important. Whatever the country,  to learn abaout the specific subject, you learn to living with yourself, away from the comfort zone. I imagine everything is more intense. 

Continue studies about art, specify about performance but in this theme, the life is more close that you imagine, becouse the actions of the body are linked to  the context, I mean in the sence of the space, culture, country and the way of think. Analize this problems from the art, is very interesting for me, because I full of questions.

I would like studing in a part-time course. obviously this could be posibble if I get a scolarship. I have meet many people who studied for free for a long time. But in some moment they return to teach what they learned. and think it is fine. I really wish we all had the opportunity to expand our knowledge and share it and that not only stays in people with money, because as we see is very dangerous... 

My future job

Maybe the idea of work is wrong. For all is the big problem to considerate in the future. Do it something for money is work, do it something for your happiness, I don´t know what is it... live? haha. For the student of visual art is a complicate thing, really! I don´t want myself in other thing without art. I mean, never stop creating.  Well, I dont know... I imagine traveling, or working with more people, doing things in diferent spaces, ideally out of the office, but is not more clear.
I would prefer continue studing in other country about art and performance and think about it.

At some moment in my life, after living many things, I mean, not only after to post graduate study, I would like to teach about that anything about help others to think other things...important things that are not explicit, and teach to understand the complex of creative process, why in the begining are not easy to accept for some people. The problem that produce the excessive worry about work and money in our neoliberal society change the dreams for some people.

Whatever, while I have the basics to do and create what I wan...as a health, food and love... I think will be grateful and fine!!

someone I´d like to meet

Hard to explain... in this world many interesting people live and die ! but.. I think.. I would like to meet Ana Mendieta, it is a great female artist!, she is from Cuba but she lived in U.S.A. because of the exiled. In my opinion her work is very interesting for me, because she practiced the performance art. 

Ana worked with the body in connection with the nature, also expressed the problem about sexism in times when the thoughts were most "closed-minded", she suggested this problem in the dominant culture governed for the logical.She was very important to the feminism art and the art in general for exhibiting a lot of problems such as the identity, sexism and racism inside the western culture.

She was a contemporary artist but died very young in the 80´s, when she was 36 years old and nobody really knew the cause, some people think that she committed suicide others that her husband killed her In any case I think it was really interesting to talk with Ana, about her work and how she thought her performances, what her influences were and if it was to live far from his native country so different...

vote or no vote

Hello partners!

Well, today I´m going to talk about a seriously and complex theme; the vote. I don´t vote. This experience is very "false", because our vote is not really representative. "They", the politician, expect we help them to realize their dreams, and they are not  interested in changing the important things that should be.

In my opinion the electoral campaigns are a joke, these people invest a lot of money to become famous and get money, also with this form, they contaminate the cities!! 

The qualities should be a person to get power and change the problems of society are hhmmm, don´t be greedy, we have seen many politicians with good intention but once in the power, the aspiration to progress is transformed for... what car I can buy?

I try to change little things from my reality, things that have political repercussion from the everyday, because the political system is colapsed. It is thought to fail. so, be vegetarian, don´t buy in a multinational, grow a vegetable garden in your house... in general, do actions to create conscience about the repression that lives the human in the present with the capitalism system. This is the only "universal politics".

Yes, marihunana in La Florida hahaha, I think it is ok! especially when the pharmacy bussines is out of control! and all the people buy in these places for everthing!! maybe we can try to practise being more open minded!

Where is my mind?

Hello partners! I enjoy so much going to the concerts! I like singing and dancing with my friends in this great moments of live music. I think it is really wonderful "meeting" the singers, although you don´t see so much, I am feeling so great!

I can remember a Pixies concert in Maquinaria festival in the summer of 2010, in Parque O´higgins. The pixies are an American alternative rock band formed in 1986 in Boston. This band is very important for me, because all my brothers and sisters older than me also listen to Pixies. And this is a very special thing! considering that all of us are interested  in listening to very diferent kind of music now! 

Well I remember this concert because I would not have thought to go this concert until the same day!, A friend called me to invite me, and wooooooow the feeling of this moment! it was a great surprise for this day! inmediately after the call, in ecstacy, I ran for the place and bought some beers!

The experience there was amazing!... ¿where is my mind? sang Black Francis, and really I didn´t know! hahaha I just sang and enjoyed that this unexpected and unforgettable moment! 

A country I would like to visit

hi everyone!

mmm well, I really like to go to many countries! but now I think I would like to visit Germany. Because in this country the art of performance has a very long history. So many artist whom I know and study nowadays are from this country, and for me it is very interesting to analize the "coincidence"  in the form of art that I work, and even though we are very very far away from these artists, because our past, reality and history are very diferent. 

Really I dont know much about Germany, with the exception of the history displayed in the movies... but, yes... it is a very cold country, and the people also are very distinct, so rational and punctual, to say something.

I like to study in this country, specifically continue studing relating to "performance art". This is possible because the education in this place is free!! this is really good for us!! and I think it is a great oportunity to go in depth in the subject that we like.

My name is Rocío López, I am 27 years old and actually study visual arts in this faculty. My weaknesses in English are many!, the grammar and the speed to write in English are not so good!. 

I think my strengths are understand words in this language with more ability. My expectations for this class are to progress in grammar and think rapidly in English! and obviously practice in the pronunciation and have a good time!
